Description of the new Functional Body Conditioning Class
This is a fantastic new class for 2017 and is instructed by Kate Howell. You will tone up, strengthen muscles and burn fat using movements that are functional to daily life.
Your fitness levels will improve and Kate will give you loads of different levels to work with.
From beginner to advance, movements such as lunges, squats, rotation and stability exercises will increase the key muscle groups in need of stabilisation. You will be working in different planes of motion which will allow you to become more functional and stronger from day to day. Only 15 places available in each class!
What do we focus on?
The three basic key groups in need of stability training are: –
- The deep abdominals (transversus abdominis and internal oblique)
- The hip abductors and rotators
- The scapula stabilisers
What is the difference between Pilates and Functional Body Conditioning?
Pilates is about rehabilitation, slow and controlled movements focusing on your core, posture and correct movements to build strength, flexibility and correct any body imbalances.
Functional Body Conditioning takes these principles of controlled movements a step further and combines them into flowing, dynamic moves that not only builds strength but makes sure you get a sweat on and burns calories as well.
